Campaign Summary: ED22

IMPORTANT: Despite misleading communications that imply otherwise, there is no process for the Brighton Democratic Committee (BDC) to “designate” candidates.

There are six (6) candidates running for the 4 slots on the Brighton Democratic Committee in the 22nd Election District.

Election Day is Tuesday, June 25. On that day, for ED22, the polling place is the Jewish Community Center, 1200 Edgewood Ave., Rochester, NY  14618.

Early voting is happening now through June 23, and voters can use any early voting location. In Brighton, a popular early voting site is Empire State University at 680 Westfall Road. For information on locations and hours for early voting, click here.

Justice For Brighton is supporting a slate of three (3) candidates for Brighton Democratic Committee in the 22nd Election District: Wynette Vickers, Tori Madway, and Beverley Pringle. Wynette is an IT professional who has been on the Committee since 2018; Tori is a progressive Jewish activist supporting disability and accessibility justice. Beverley, an RCSD principal, was precluded from being active on the Committee by dint of being a member of the leadership of the local League of Women Voters chapter.

The other three candidates in ED22 are Holm Bussler and Martha and John Osowski, none of whom live in the district. Mr. Bussler is the Treasurer for Democrats for Brighton, the authorized multi-candidate committee supporting their candidacies. Democrats for Brighton has the dubious distinction of running an all-white slate of 31 candidates across Brighton, as documented in the article Whiter Than A Trump Rally. In 2022, Mr. and Mrs. Osowski contested a primary election in the 5th Election District, with Mrs. Osowski prevailing and Mr. Osowski having to be seated after the organizing meeting in the fall.
